Privacy policy

WordROT is made by Pugsley LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac, this website, and support email.

WordROT has no ads or third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or track you across apps or websites. Campaign and solo games work offline without a WordROT account or Game Center sign-in.

Data on your device

WordROT stores saved games, display names, moves, scores, campaign progress, difficulty history, feats, statistics, and preferences on your device. It also keeps local records to time App Store review prompts and recover interrupted multiplayer actions. Apple-provided account identifiers keep saved games and pending actions associated with the correct account.

Word validation and computer opponents run on your device. The app does not request access to your contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera.

iCloud

When iCloud is available, campaign and solo saved games automatically sync through Apple's CloudKit service in your private iCloud database. Synced data includes game settings, display names, moves, timestamps, results, and records of deletions and resets. It is not shared with other players or sent to a WordROT-operated gameplay server.

Preferences and review-prompt history do not sync through WordROT. Apple's device backups may separately include local app data, depending on your settings. WordROT never asks for your Apple Account password.

Game Center

Game Center is optional and separate from iCloud. WordROT can reconnect to an account already signed in. It uses your player identifier, display name, match information, and available friends or recent opponents and their Game Center profile pictures for achievements, invitations, and multiplayer.

Apple receives achievement progress and stores multiplayer invitations, game settings, turns, and results through Game Center, not CloudKit. Your opponent can see your player identity, played words, scores, and other shared match details. Profile and achievement visibility also depends on your Game Center privacy settings.

Notifications

On supported devices, WordROT asks permission for turn reminders and app-icon badges. Reminders may show an opponent's name on your lock screen. Manage permissions and previews in your device settings. Apple also handles Game Center events and background iCloud notifications; turning off visible notifications does not disable sync.

Support email

Feedback / Support opens an email draft with the app version and build, operating-system version, and general device model. You can edit or remove these details. Nothing is sent until you send it, and saved games and diagnostic logs are not attached automatically.

We receive your email address, sender name, message, and any attachments you send. We and our email provider use and store this correspondence to respond and troubleshoot. We keep it as needed to resolve your request and related issues or meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete it.

Apple and this website

Apple operates iCloud, Game Center, the App Store, and system notifications under Apple's Privacy Policy. Depending on your sharing settings, Apple may provide developers with crash reports or app analytics. WordROT has no separate analytics or crash-reporting service.

This website uses static pages, with no cookies, analytics, or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which can include IP addresses, for security and reliability. Other websites and your browser and email providers have their own privacy practices. We may disclose information we hold when required by law.

Deletion and your choices

Local data remains until removed, reset, or the app's local storage is deleted. Removing the app does not erase iCloud or Game Center records.

• Reset games: Use Settings → Reset Game Data to reset Campaign, Solo, or Multiplayer. Campaign reset also clears campaign progress and difficulty history. Resets do not clear lifetime feats, preferences, or Game Center achievements.
• iCloud: Campaign and solo deletions and resets sync when a connection succeeds. Deletion/reset records remain to prevent old data from returning. Older campaign records may remain in iCloud after a reset but are ignored by the app.
• Multiplayer: Resetting removes local copies, not Apple's match records or opponents' copies. Matches may download again.
• Apple settings: Manage iCloud storage and access, Game Center sign-in and privacy, and backups using Apple's settings and tools. Disabling a service does not erase its existing data. Reconnecting or restoring a backup may restore data.
• Support: Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of information you have sent us. We cannot erase device-only data or manage your Apple Account for you. Never send us your password.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to receive a copy of your information, restrict or object to its use, or complain to a privacy regulator. Contact us about information we hold; direct requests about Apple's processing to Apple.

Security and children's privacy

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Protect your devices and Apple Account, and avoid sharing sensitive information in support messages or with other players.

WordROT does not ask for age or date of birth or use behavioral advertising. Apple manages parental controls for its services. If a child has sent personal information to support, contact us so we can address it and delete the information as appropriate.
